Work with us

The CALIN network enables enterprises to build collaborations with partner universities for research and development, helping them to obtain preliminary information to inform decisions regarding project initiation, direction, and investment. Enterprises can access university facilities, skills and knowledge and engage with the wider CALIN network via events and networking. If an enterprise seeks to develop new products, processes or solve a problem, the network can facilitate and conduct short-term research and development studies. CALIN is currently funded until May 2023.

The flow diagram above shows a simplified overview of the CALIN process. Enterprises will meet with the CALIN team at Bangor to determine whether there is scope for CALIN activity to support their development. A review of the enterprise’s technology, IP and market will be undertaken and the team will gain an understanding of the aims and objectives of the enterprise. The CALIN team will then produce a recommendation for one or a combination of the following:

  • Referral to other funded projects or opportunities
  • Continued engagement with the network and/ or partner university activities
  • Bespoke documents/guides (e.g. best practice, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc)
  • Proposal/ project plan for non-CALIN research, development and innovation (RD&I) opportunity
  • CALIN RD&I Activity Proposal
    • Short term R,D&I project, 1–3 months
    • Long term R,D&I project, 3–9 months
